A Unique Opportunity for you to be involved
If you are interested in volunteering to help out with some of our events or projects then we would love to hear from you. Or, if you just want to attend then that is fine too (either way keep an eye on our news page, on our facebook page or Next Door (pond Park) page).
We are grateful for community grant support from Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council. Activities in 2019 are:
Mon 1 April: 7.30pm, 10 years and counting presentation (see News tab)
Sat 11 May, 10am : Bio-Diversity Spruce-Up morning/afternoon at Belshaw's Quarry Nature Reserve and Sculpture Park and chance to win a free entry to Balance House Spring Fair later the same day.
To start off Spring, Whitemountain & District Community Association (WDCA) is holding a bio-diversity spruce up morning/afternoon at Belshaw’s Quarry Nature Reserve & Sculpture Park, Bensons Rd, on Saturday 11 May. Help out from 10am and your name will go into a draw at noon to win a free entry to Balance House Spring Fair that afternoon.
Anyone interested in doing some removal of ivy, moss and weeds from lower parts of some of the lower parts of the quarry faces should let us know through our Contact Us tab (so any lunches etc can be planned for).
The team approach activities will ideally start just after 10am but helpers can come along at any time, probably up to about lunch time.
Safety training, gloves, lunches and hot beverages will be provided in what should result in a significant improvement in visibility of some key geological features of the site which is also an Area of Special Scientific Interest.
If you have a spade or how etc don't hesitate to bring it along as the more bits of kit the merrier.
Other LCCC Community Grant aided projects will take place during the year. However, this event will have a guide on hand so helpers will see up close some things they might otherwise miss.
Click on the pdf file guide to get your own full guide of the site through the eyes of sculptors.
